“iPhone 17e Leak Hints at Slimmer Bezels, Dynamic Island & Early 2026 Launch”
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17e, expected to debut in the
first half of next year, is already generating buzz as new information from
South Korea hints at notable display upgrades. According to the latest leak,
the device may ship with an OLED screen similar to the one used in the iPhone
15 lineup. Display suppliers BOE, Samsung Display, and LG
Display are reportedly preparing early shipments, reinforcing rumours that
the phone will feature thinner bezels, a refreshed design, and Apple’s Dynamic
Island interface. The handset is also believed to run on the
yet-to-be-announced A19 chipset.
Thinner Bezels and Dynamic Island Expected on iPhone 17e
A report from The Elec claims that BOE has been
chosen as the primary OLED provider for the iPhone 17e, which is set to go
official early next year. The company is said to be preparing around 8
million OLED units for the model, with Samsung Display and LG Display
supporting the remaining supply during the first half of 2026.
The leak suggests that Apple will reuse the LTPS OLED
panel from the iPhone 16e but with refinements—most notably a reduction in
bezel thickness. Despite these upgrades, the screen is expected to remain 6.1
inches, echoing the dimensions of earlier standard models like the iPhone
14. The thinner borders, however, may give the device a more modern look and
slightly slimmer footprint.
The same report notes that Apple intends to switch to LTPO
panels for the regular iPhone 17 variants, continuing its shift toward more
advanced display technology. BOE previously supplied the majority of OLED
panels for the iPhone 16e, with Samsung and LG rounding out production volumes.
Dynamic Island Confirmed in Latest Leak
Earlier rumours indicated that the iPhone 17e would ditch
the notch in favour of Dynamic Island, bringing the design in line with
the iPhone 16 family and the upcoming iPhone 17 series. The device is expected
to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display supporting a 60Hz refresh rate,
positioning it as the more affordable option in the lineup. Pricing speculation
places it near CNY 4,499 (around ₹57,000).
Expected to arrive in May next year, the iPhone 17e
will reportedly run on the A19 chip, though with fewer GPU cores
compared to the flagship iPhone 17 models. Camera upgrades may include a 48-megapixel
main rear camera and a 12-megapixel front shooter, echoing Apple's
recent improvements to entry-level iPhones.
