Realme Neo 8 is giving full cyberpunk energy! 🤖🟣 Transparent back, RGB lights & Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 confirmed. Dropping Jan 22. 🎮🔥

Realme is about to drop what looks like one of the most "gamer-centric" phones of the year. The company has officially started teasing the Realme Neo 8, the successor to the Neo 7, and the vibe is unmistakably futuristic. With a launch date set for January 22 in China, Realme is pulling back the curtain on a design that feels like it came straight out of a sci-fi movie.

If you are tired of the same old glass slabs, the Neo 8 might just be the breath of fresh air you need.

A Transparent Back With RGB Glow

The biggest selling point Realme is hyping up is the design. The Neo 8 features a transparent RGB design that lets you see the internal components of the phone.

It’s not just a clear back, though. It features Realme's signature "Awakening Halo" lighting, which wraps around the camera island. You get that distinct esports aesthetic, complete with orange VOOC branding that pops against the tech-heavy background. It’s bold, flashy, and screams "gamer phone."

There is also an "HYPERIMAGE+" embossed logo on the camera module and a visible NFC label, confirming the phone will support contactless payments.

The Three Flavors of the Future

Realme has confirmed the Neo 8 will launch in three distinct colorways, and the descriptions are just as dramatic as the design:

  • Cyber Purple: Described as a "flash fantasy," this one looks like it belongs in a neon-lit arcade.
  • Mecha Gray: A "steady and deep" shade for those who want the tech look without going too wild.
  • Origin White: Marketed as "truly flawless," offering a clean, high-tech look while keeping the transparent elements.

Power Under the Hood: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

While the design catches your eye, the specs are what keeps you playing. Realme has confirmed the Neo 8 will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.

The company claims the performance scores have crossed the 3.58 million mark on AnTuTu. That is an absolute beast of a score, suggesting this phone will handle the heaviest games like Genshin Impact on max settings without breaking a sweat.

Display and Cameras

To match that power, you need a screen that can keep up. Realme is utilizing a 165Hz Samsung M14 OLED panel. This is based on Samsung Display’s latest tech, meaning you get lower power consumption and a longer battery life alongside that buttery smooth refresh rate.

Photography isn't ignored either. The Neo 8 is confirmed to have a triple rear camera system, headlined by a periscope telephoto lens capable of 120x zoom. For security, it uses an ultrasonic 3D fingerprint sensor, which is generally faster and more secure than optical sensors.

Durability is handled by "Crystal Armor Glass," which promises scratch and drop protection, and the phone features "large R-angle corners" to make holding the device more comfortable during long gaming sessions.

Launch Date

The Realme Neo 8 is set to launch in China on January 22. With these specs and that wild RGB design, it’s shaping up to be a serious contender for the budget flagship throne.
