📸 Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 leak: No camera upgrade? Same specs as Flip 7, but it's getting way lighter (150g)! 🪶 Details 👇
If you were hoping the next Samsung Galaxy Z Flip would
finally get the camera upgrade it deserves, you might want to sit down for
this. According to fresh leaks, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 is set to
play it incredibly safe with photography, keeping the same hardware as its
predecessor.
However, if you prefer a lighter phone over a sharper zoom
lens, Samsung might have you covered instead.
The Same Old Cameras?
The report comes via the Dutch publication Galaxy Club,
and it’s a bit of a "same old, same old" situation. The Galaxy Z Flip
8 is expected to feature a dual rear camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel
primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
Round the front, the hole-punch cutout will allegedly house
a 10-megapixel selfie camera.
If these specs look familiar, it’s because they are
identical to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which launched back in August 2025.
While the 50MP main shooter is decent, the lack of a telephoto lens or a major
sensor bump means the Flip 8 won't be winning any photography awards against
the heavy hitters in the flagship market.
Why Hold Back? It’s All About the Price
Why would Samsung refuse to upgrade the cameras on a new
generation phone? The answer is likely simple economics.
The entire smartphone industry has been grappling with
rising component costs, leading to price hikes almost everywhere. However,
previous reports suggest Samsung is taking a hard stance against raising the
prices of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and the Galaxy S26 series.
By keeping the camera specs consistent, Samsung avoids
expensive new parts. This strategy helps them keep the sticker price down,
aiming to defend sales volume and market share rather than chasing margin on a
niche foldable device.
Performance: Exynos 2600 is Expected
While the cameras are staying put, the brains of the
operation are getting an upgrade. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is rumored to be powered
by Samsung’s new Exynos 2600 chipset.
This follows the recent trend where Samsung reserves its
top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon chips for the flagship "S" series, while
the clamshell foldables rely on proprietary Exynos silicon. The Galaxy Z Flip 5
was the last in the line to use a Snapdragon (8 Gen 2); since then, it’s been
all Exynos.
The Real Upgrade? Weight Loss
The most exciting improvement might actually be how the
phone feels in your hand. The report suggests the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could be
significantly lighter—about 38 grams lighter than its predecessor.
That brings the expected weight down to approximately 150g.
For a device with a hinge and two screens, that is impressively light. If you
often feel the fatigue of holding a heavy slab of glass and metal all day, this
alone might make the Flip 8 worth the wait.
When Can You Get It?
Samsung typically sticks to a tight schedule for its foldables. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to be unveiled in July 2026, likely alongside the much larger Galaxy Z Fold 8.
