Look ma, no camera! 📸🙅♂️ The Red Magic 11 Air has a true full-screen display with an under-display selfie cam. 🤯 Here are the specs 👇
Red Magic is officially done with teasers. The gaming
smartphone brand has confirmed that the Red Magic 11 Air will make its
debut in China on January 20. If you were worried that the
"Air" moniker meant sacrificing raw power for thinness, think again.
Nubia is positioning this device as a performance-first flagship that just
happens to be incredibly slim.
The announcement came via a Weibo post, and the details
coming out of the Red Magic camp suggest this could be one of the most
immersive gaming phones we’ve seen in a while.
The Era of the "True" Full-Screen
For years, gamers have had to tolerate punch-hole cameras or
notched displays cutting into their gameplay. The Red Magic 11 Air aims to fix
that.
The company has confirmed that the device will feature a full-screen
display with absolutely no visible cutouts. How? By hiding a 16-megapixel
front camera underneath the panel. Combined with transparent rear design
options and built-in shoulder triggers, this phone is built for
zero-distraction gaming.
Cooling That Punches Above Its Weight
Usually, when a phone is marketed as "Air," it
means they stripped out the cooling fans to save space. Not this time.
Nubia has confirmed that the 11 Air will pack an internal
high-speed fan paired with a massive 4D Ice-Step vapor chamber. This
dual cooling system is designed to keep temperatures down during marathon
sessions. It also houses the dedicated Red Core R4 esports chip and Red Magic's
Cube gaming engine.
The paradox here is the design. Despite housing a fan and a
huge battery, the phone measures just 7.85mm in thickness.
Massive Battery and Snapdragon 8 Elite Power
Speaking of that battery, Nubia claims it's the largest ever
used in a Red Magic Air-series phone. Certification listings (TENAA) point to a
rated capacity of 6,780mAh, which will likely be marketed as roughly 7,000mAh.
For context, most flagship gaming phones struggle to hit 6,000mAh without
becoming bricks.
Under the hood, the beast is powered by Qualcomm's latest.
The device has already been spotted on Geekbench running the Snapdragon 8
Elite chipset. The benchmarked unit showed a prime core clocking in at
4.32GHz, backed by six performance cores running at 3.53GHz. This is a
significant upgrade over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 found in the previous Red Magic
10 Air.
Everything Else We Know
Thanks to TENAA certifications, the rest of the spec sheet
is pretty much out in the open:
- Display:
A 6.85-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1,216 x 2,688 pixels and a
120Hz refresh rate.
- RAM
& Storage: Configurations could go all the way up to a staggering 24GB
of RAM and 1TB of storage. Base models will likely start at
12GB/256GB.
- Cameras:
A 50-megapixel main rear sensor paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide
lens.
- OS:
It will run on Android 16 out of the box.
The Red Magic 11 Air launches on January 20 at 3pm local time (12:30pm IST). If you are looking for a phone that doesn't compromise on screen real estate or battery life, this is the one to watch.
