Samsung Galaxy S26 Leak Reveals Big One UI 8.5 Upgrades: 3D Wallpapers, Now Nudges & Smarter AI Tools
Samsung’s next big software update, One UI 8.5, may
arrive with a wave of fresh customisation features—and early signs suggest many
of them could be exclusive to the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup.
These discoveries were made after a leaker reportedly managed to activate
hidden tools on a rooted device running an internal AI-powered test build of
One UI, while current devices like the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 continue
to rely on older builds where these options remain locked.
The findings hint at deeper AI features, upgraded visual
effects, and smarter editing tools heading to Samsung’s next generation of
flagships.
New ‘Now Nudges’ Feature Could Transform Lock Screen Information
Among the standout additions is a feature called Now
Nudges—a contextual info system designed to surface useful updates right on
the lock screen.
According to info shared by That Josh Guy on X citing DaManMikey,
this tool works much like Google’s At a Glance widget.
Early glimpses show simple updates such as greetings and
weather. But hidden menus suggest a wider scope: recalling important items,
autofilling certain details, and recommending quick actions based on the
content displayed on the screen.
3D Parallax Wallpaper Effects Coming to Lock Screen
Another new option discovered is Wallpaper Live Effects,
which adds a 3D parallax-style movement to lock screen backgrounds.
Samsung has included similar effects within its Gallery app before, but this is
the first time such dynamic visuals may be accessible straight from the lock
screen editor.
New Creative Studio for Custom Wallpaper Designs
The leak also points to a Creative Studio embedded
within the Wallpaper & Style area. This tool appears to let users design
their own wallpapers, offering assistive drawing features as an enhancement to
the existing AI wallpaper generator.
Smarter Photo Editing With ‘Type to Edit’
One UI 8.5 may also introduce a Type to Edit tool
inside Samsung Gallery. Instead of manually circling or brushing over parts of
a photo, users may soon be able to type out instructions to perform
edits—another feature expected to be limited to the Galaxy S26 models.
Exclusive to the Galaxy S26? Evidence Suggests Yes
All these features only appeared on devices running
Samsung’s internal 20261 AI test build, which is unavailable on current
Galaxy phones.
This strongly supports the idea that Samsung may reserve these upgrades for the
Galaxy S26 series, rather than rolling them out across older hardware.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 family with
One UI 8.5 around February 2026, with a public beta likely reaching
Galaxy S25 users sometime afterward.
