iPhone 18 Pro & Fold specs leak! 📱🔋 A20 Pro chip, 7.8" foldable screen, but NO periscope zoom on the Fold? 📸 The breakdown 👇
The iPhone 17 series has barely hit the shelves, but Apple’s
roadmap for 2026 is already making waves. If you thought 2025 was a big year
for the Cupertino giant, 2026 looks set to be a historic one. We are talking
about the debut of Apple’s first-ever foldable and a refresh of the Pro lineup
that brings a new level of power.
Fresh insights from industry analyst Jeff Pu give us our
clearest look yet at what to expect from the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro
Max, and the highly anticipated iPhone Fold.
The Brains: A20 Pro Chipset
All three heavyweights—the 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and the
Fold—are rumored to run on Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chipset.
According to the report, this processor will be built on a 2nm
process and utilize a new "Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module" (WMCM)
design. Without getting too bogged down in the technical weeds, this means
Apple is pushing the boundaries of how small and efficient they can make these
chips. We are expecting massive performance gains and better battery efficiency
across the board.
To handle this power, all three devices will also reportedly
pack 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM, a welcome upgrade for multitaskers and gamers.
The Display Showdown: Size Matters
Apple seems to be refining its size strategy.
- iPhone
18 Pro: Sticking to the "compact" premium feel with a 6.3-inch
display.
- iPhone
18 Pro Max: The big-screen flagship, sporting a 6.9-inch display.
- iPhone
Fold: This is the wild card. It’s expected to feature a massive 7.8-inch
foldable inner display (bigger than the Max) and a 5.3-inch cover
display on the outside.
If you have ever wanted an iPad that folds into your pocket,
the iPhone Fold is shaping up to be that device.
Cameras: The Fold’s Trade-Off
Here is where the lines are drawn in the sand. The 18 Pro
series is getting the camera crown, while the Fold is reportedly taking a hit
in one specific area to accommodate its folding tech.
The Pros (18 Pro & Pro Max):
- Front:
18-megapixel selfie cameras with a sophisticated 6P lens system.
- Rear:
A triple camera setup. This is the big upgrade: all three sensors are 48-megapixel.
You get a primary shooter, a periscope telephoto lens (for zoom), and an
ultrawide shooter.
The Fold:
- Front:
It gets two selfie cameras (one on the cover, one on the inner screen),
both 18MP.
- Rear:
It misses out on the periscope zoom lens. Instead, it gets a dual
48-megapixel setup—primary and ultrawide.
So, while the Fold gives you that massive screen for
content, the 18 Pro Max remains the choice for zoom photography.
Connectivity, Build, and Security
There are a few interesting notes on how these phones will
feel and connect.
- Modem:
All three will feature Apple’s new C2 modem for faster 5G and
better connectivity.
- Materials:
The 18 Pro series might stick to aluminum frames. The Fold, needing
to be stronger, is rumored to use a mix of titanium and aluminum.
- Dynamic
Island vs. Touch ID: This is a huge design shift. Rumors suggest the
18 Pro models will finally get a smaller Dynamic Island (good
news!). However, the Fold might rely on Touch ID (likely in the
power button) for biometric security, likely because embedding Face ID
into a folding screen is a nightmare.
If these leaks hold true, the September 2026 event is going to be one for the ages. The question is: do you want the camera power of the Pro, or the screen real estate of the Fold?
