YouTube Music 2025 Recap Arrives With AI Chat & Global “Musical Passport” Insights
YouTube Music has officially begun releasing its 2025
Recap, giving listeners a deeper, more personal look at their musical
journey over the past year. This edition goes beyond basic stats, offering
insights such as the exact amount of time spent listening to favourite artists,
top albums of the year, and even a global breakdown of where your most-played
musicians come from. One of the biggest additions this year is a new AI-driven
chat feature, letting users ask questions and get customised reflections on
their 2025 listening behaviour.
2025 Recap Now Live on Android & iOS
The Alphabet-owned streaming service has started rolling out
the feature to users worldwide. Reports of the Recap appearing have surfaced on
X, Reddit, and among tech testers, confirming that the update is reaching more
devices.
A banner inside the app guides users to their Recap. For
those who don’t see it yet, it can also be accessed manually by tapping the
profile picture and selecting “Your Recap” inside the YouTube Music app
on both iOS and Android.
What’s Inside the New Recap
The 2025 edition follows a story-style format,
similar to social media reels. After tapping “Get your Recap”, the
walkthrough begins with total listening minutes, followed by your most-streamed
tracks and detailed listening patterns.
One standout addition is the Musical Passport, a card
that highlights all the countries represented by your top artists. Other
sections showcase:
- Your
favourite albums of the year
- Genres
you listened to most
- Podcasts
you spent time with
- A
calendar view showing which days you listened to specific artists
Each card can be downloaded or shared across social
platforms.
AI Chat: Ask Anything About Your 2025 Listening
This year introduces a fresh twist — an AI assistant
built directly into the Recap. Users can chat with the tool to get personalised
interpretations of their musical trends.
Some sample prompts include:
- “Invent
new genres based on my listening.”
- “Guess
my zodiac sign from my music taste.”
- “Was
my year more relaxed or energetic?”
- “What’s
the oldest track I played?”
- “How
did my listening evolve throughout the year?”
The assistant breaks down your habits in a conversational,
insight-rich format.
Competition Heats Up
Spotify is expected to release its annual Wrapped report in
the coming weeks, offering its own playful take on user listening patterns.
Apple Music continues with its monthly Replay summaries and a year-end review
to highlight fans’ favourite tracks and artists.
