Snapdragon Phones to Get AirDrop-Compatible Quick Share Soon — Android & iPhone Sharing Just Leveled Up!
Android–iPhone File Sharing Gets a Major Upgrade
Google is taking another bold step toward bridging the
long-standing divide between Android and iOS. After introducing AirDrop
compatibility inside Quick Share for the Pixel 10 lineup, the company has
now confirmed that smartphones powered by Snapdragon processors will
receive the same capability “in the near future.”
This update will allow Android and iPhone users to share files directly,
securely, and wirelessly—essentially giving Android its most seamless
cross-platform sharing experience yet.
Quick Share’s AirDrop Integration Coming Beyond Pixel 10
Last week, Google revealed that AirDrop support through
Quick Share is currently restricted to its newest devices: Pixel 10, Pixel
10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. These models run on
Google’s in-house Tensor G5 chip.
However, the company also emphasized that broader Android
rollout plans are underway.
Adding fuel to the excitement, Snapdragon’s official X
account posted a hint shortly after the announcement, stating:
“Can’t wait for people to use this once enabled on Snapdragon in the near
future.”
This strongly signals that Android phones with Snapdragon chips—across multiple
brands—will soon enjoy the same AirDrop-compatible sharing tool.

How the Cross-Platform Sharing Works
Google clarified that Quick Share uses AirDrop’s Everyone
for 10 minutes mode. Once this is active, users can simply open a file,
choose Share > Quick Share, and initiate a direct device-to-device
transfer.
Key points include:
- It
uses a peer-to-peer connection
- No
cloud routing
- No
server logs
- No
content stored during transfer
This ensures that the workflow remains fast, private, and
fully local.
Security Validated by Independent Testing
To further strengthen user trust, Google says the
cross-platform system has undergone extensive security testing. Third-party
firm NetSPI conducted a penetration assessment, concluding that the
Quick Share–AirDrop interoperability is secure and “notably stronger”
than similar solutions used elsewhere in the industry.
Crucially, the review found zero data leakage during transfers.
