Microsoft Launches Agent 365 — A New Control Hub for Enterprise AI Agents

Microsoft has introduced Agent 365, a dedicated command centre designed to help organisations oversee and control the growing number of AI agents used across their systems. Announced at Microsoft Ignite 2025, the platform acts as a single window where IT teams can review all AI-driven tools, understand their permissions, and monitor their behaviour in real time. What makes Agent 365 especially useful is its compatibility with both Microsoft-built agents and those created using open-source frameworks. The feature is currently accessible via the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre under the Frontier preview programme.

A Unified Dashboard for Growing AI Usage

In its official announcement, Microsoft explained the motivation behind Agent 365:
as businesses adopt more AI agents to handle tasks like drafting reports, organising inboxes, or retrieving internal data, IT departments need a reliable way to track and manage them—just like they do with human employees. Agent 365 is built specifically to solve this challenge.

Central Registry for Every AI Agent

One of the platform’s main components is a central registry.
IT teams can list every AI agent in the organisation along with details such as:

  • Who developed the agent
  • Its intended purpose or tasks
  • The systems or datasets it can access

This registry helps identify outdated agents, limit access for overprivileged ones, or remove tools that no longer serve a clear role.

Real-Time Monitoring and Activity Tracking

Agent 365 also includes deep monitoring features. Administrators can see:

  • When an agent is running
  • What services or files it interacts with
  • Any unusual or suspicious activity

This allows companies to quickly spot misconfigurations or potential security risks—such as an AI agent accessing areas of the network it shouldn’t.

Unique Digital Identities Through Entra

Each AI agent receives its own identity through Microsoft Entra, similar to assigning an employee their digital ID.
With this identity, IT teams can:

  • Set specific permissions
  • Limit access to sensitive data
  • Audit an agent’s behaviour

This identity-based structure provides more granular control and transparency.

Seamless Integration with Popular Microsoft Apps

Because many businesses rely heavily on Microsoft’s suite of apps, Agent 365 can connect directly with tools like:

  • Outlook
  • Word
  • Excel
  • Power BI
  • Power Apps

This lets organisations enable AI automation while maintaining clear oversight of what these agents are doing inside each application.

Available Now Through Frontier Preview

Agent 365 is accessible via the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre through the Frontier preview programme. Companies can activate it across the entire organisation or enable it selectively while evaluating the platform’s capabilities.
