Death Stranding 2 PC Port Leaks via ESRB — Sooner Than Expected?
A surprising development has stirred excitement among Death
Stranding fans. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which debuted
exclusively on PlayStation 5 in June, appears to be preparing for a much
earlier PC arrival than expected. A brand-new listing on the Entertainment
Software Rating Board (ESRB) website has revealed a rating for a PC
version of the game—despite no official announcement from Sony or Kojima
Productions.
ESRB Leak Hints at Upcoming PC Release
The ESRB website now features a rating for Death
Stranding 2 on PC, marked M for Mature. This listing exists
separately from the previously rated PS5 version, strongly indicating that a PC
port is already in progress behind the scenes.
Historically, Sony’s first-party titles take at least a year
to make their way to PC. If this pattern holds, players could see Death
Stranding 2 arrive sometime in 2026, following its June 2025
PlayStation release. This timeline would mirror the original Death Stranding,
which shifted to PC roughly eight months after its PS4 launch.
Death Stranding’s Ports Set the Precedent
The first entry in the franchise followed a steady
multi-platform rollout:
- PS4
launch: November 2019
- PC
release: July 2020
- PS5
Director’s Cut: 2021
- Ports
to Apple and Xbox Series consoles: 2024
With developer 505 Games previously handling the PC
version, fans are now speculating whether the same partnership will return for
the sequel.
A Strong Game Awards Contender
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has earned
significant buzz, leading to seven nominations at The Game Awards 2025,
including the prestigious Game of the Year. Other nominated categories
include Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Original
Score.
The sequel continues Sam Porter Bridges’ journey, this time
focused on reconnecting a devastated Mexico and Australia through the
chiral network. The leak only adds more anticipation for Kojima’s newest
chapter.
