🧟♂️ New Resident Evil 9 info drops Jan 15! Capcom announces a 12-minute showcase for 'Requiem'. Leon is back! 🔥
If you have been desperate for news on the next chapter of
survival horror, you only have to wait a few more days. Capcom has officially
announced a dedicated Resident Evil Showcase for this week, where the
spotlight will be firmly fixed on the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem.
The show is set to air on January 15, giving us a
fresh look at the ninth main installment in the legendary franchise just weeks
before it hits shelves.
When and How to Watch
Capcom isn't wasting any time. The showcase will be
broadcast on the company’s official YouTube and Twitch channels this
Thursday.
- Time:
2pm PT (January 16 at 3:30am IST)
- Duration:
12 minutes
It’s a tight runtime, which suggests Capcom is cutting the
fluff and focusing purely on the goods. Expect gameplay reveals, story details,
and perhaps a final trailer to hype up the launch.
What We Know About Resident Evil Requiem
This is the big one. Originally revealed at Summer Game Fest
2025, Resident Evil Requiem (confirmed to be Resident Evil 9) is
promising to be the most immersive entry in the series yet.
At The Game Awards 2025, Capcom dropped a massive bombshell:
Leon S. Kennedy is back. He isn't alone, either. The game features dual
protagonists, pairing Leon with a brand-new character named Grace Ashcroft,
an FBI analyst.
Two Sides of Horror
What makes this dynamic interesting is the gameplay split.
According to Capcom, you won't be playing the same style twice.
- Leon
S. Kennedy: Fans know what to expect here. His sections will focus on
"visceral action gameplay." Think high-octane set pieces and
gunplay, reminiscent of his best outings in RE4 and RE2.
- Grace
Ashcroft: She represents the tense, survival horror side of the game.
Her segments will likely be slower, more resource-scavenging focused, and
terrifying.
The official description promises that their "unique
gameplay styles intertwine into a heart-stopping, emotional experience."
The Plot Thickens
The narrative sees the two investigating a series of grisly
deaths. As their paths converge, the trail leads them right back to the source
of the nightmare: the now-destroyed Raccoon City.
Launch Date
Mark your calendars. Resident Evil Requiem launches
on February 27.
It will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and notably, the Nintendo Switch 2. If you are a Switch 2 owner looking for a AAA graphical showcase to test your new hardware, this might just be the title to beat.
