Honor Magic 8 series incoming! 🚀 6.1mm thin Air vs. the Magic 8 RSR with an external camera kit! 📸📱 Specs 👇
Honor is gearing up for a massive double launch next week.
While the Magic 8 Pro Air is stealing the spotlight with its incredible
thinness, the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design is making waves for a very
different reason: an external camera kit that looks like something out of a spy
movie.
Ahead of the January 19 event in China, Honor has dropped
some serious hardware teases. Here is what we know about the two distinct sides
of Honor’s upcoming flagship lineup.
The Magic 8 Pro Air: Ultra-Thin with a High-Density Battery
The "Air" name usually implies sacrifices, but
Honor seems to be cheating physics with this one.
The company has confirmed that the Magic 8 Pro Air
will pack a 5,500mAh battery. That is impressive on its own, but the
real tech flex is the energy density: 917Wh/L. Honor calls this the
"Qinghai Lake" battery. Basically, they’ve managed to cram more power
into less space than almost any competitor.
How thin is it? Just 6.1mm. It will also weigh a
feather-light 155g.
If you are wondering about the cameras, you aren't getting a
downgrade despite the size. Honor confirms a 1/1.3-inch main sensor and
a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.
Configuration & Colors:
- RAM/Storage:
12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB.
- Colors:
Fairy Purple, Light Orange, Feather White, and Shadow Black.
- Chipset:
Expected to run on the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500.
The Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design: The "DSLR" Smartphone
While the Air is about elegance, the Magic 8 RSR Porsche
Design is about pure photography power. Honor has confirmed that this phone
will ship with an add-on photography kit, and it’s wild.
The External Camera Kit: This is the headline
feature. It’s an add-on telephoto extender that essentially turns your phone
into a telephoto beast.
- Stabilization:
It offers industry-leading CIPA 6.5-level image stabilization.
- Zoom:
It supports a 2.35x teleconverter.
- Grip:
The kit includes a dedicated camera grip for steady shooting.
This places the RSR Porsche Design in the same league as the
Vivo X300 Pro and Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which also support external
lenses. It’s a clear attempt to bridge the gap between a smartphone camera and
a dedicated DSLR setup.
Configuration & Colors:
- RAM:
Up to a massive 24GB of RAM.
- Colors:
Moonstone and Slate.
- Chipset:
Rumors suggest it will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5,
separate from the Dimensity chip in the Air.
The Battle of Strategy
Honor is clearly targeting two different crowds with this
launch.
- Magic
8 Pro Air: For those who want a stunning, futuristic design that fits
in a pocket without weighing them down, but still want top-tier
performance and battery life.
- Magic
8 RSR Porsche Design: For photography enthusiasts who don't mind
adding bulk to get that perfect shot.
Both phones drop on January 19.
