Telegram Adds Live Stories & Repeated Messages in Major Creator Update
Telegram has unveiled a fresh set of creator-centric
features aimed at boosting engagement and giving users more interactive
controls. The update brings Live Stories, Repeated Messages, and
a revamped auction system for collectible Gifts. While the concept of
live storytelling has been around on platforms like Instagram for years,
Telegram is now expanding its creative toolkit to provide similar opportunities
for its global user base.
A Closer Look at Telegram’s New Features
Telegram confirmed the rollout in its latest announcement,
stating that the new tools are available on both Android and iOS through the
latest app update.
Live Stories: Real-Time Streaming Inside Stories
With Live Stories, individuals, groups, and boosted channels
can now broadcast live video straight from their Story section.
Key highlights of Live Stories
- Interactive
comments that appear in real time
- Ability
for viewers to pin comments using stars
- Creators
can receive stars as support, shown via a live star counter
- Familiar
interface inspired by existing social platforms
- Full
privacy controls matching standard Stories
- Compatibility
with external streaming tools through RTMP (OBS, XSplit, etc.)
This feature effectively brings real-time interaction into
the same space where users already post day-to-day updates.
Repeated Messages: Automated Reminders Made Simple
Telegram is also upgrading scheduled messages with a
repeating option.
Users can now set messages or reminders to recur at intervals such as:
- Daily
- Weekly
- Biweekly
- Monthly
- Other
preset frequencies
To activate it, users simply press and hold the Send
button, choose Schedule Message, and then tap Repeat to pick an
interval.
Telegram Gifts Get an Auction System
Collectible Telegram Gifts—digital items users showcase on
their profiles or move into blockchain wallets—are also receiving a major
update.
Telegram explained that limited-edition gifts often sold out
instantly, leaving many fans without a chance to claim them. To fix this, a new
auction-based system will be used for rare collectibles.
How the new gifting auctions work
- Users
place bids using stars
- Highest
bidders in the first round get the rarest gifts
- Remaining
bidders enter additional rounds as items become available
- Unused
bids are automatically refunded
- Users
can raise their bids to compete in later rounds
- Items
in this system will show an “Auction” label for clarity
The bidding interface also displays the star amounts
required to secure a collectible in the current round.
