Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Leak Reveals Darker Frame, Familiar Cameras
Rumours surrounding Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra
are already circulating, despite the phone being nearly a year away from
launch. While the usual camera upgrades many expect from Samsung’s Ultra models
may not arrive this time, early leaks do highlight some design tweaks and
software improvements. Interestingly, information about the Galaxy S27 Ultra
has also surfaced, offering clues about Samsung’s long-term plans while
competitors like Sony and OmniVision push ahead with major sensor advancements.
Camera Hardware: No Significant Jump Expected
Sony and OmniVision recently introduced new 200-megapixel
camera sensors for future premium smartphones.
- Sony’s
LYTIA 901: A 1/1.12-inch sensor with advanced HDR capabilities and a
sophisticated Quad-Quad Bayer arrangement.
- OmniVision’s
OVB0D: A slightly larger 1/1.1-inch sensor designed to deliver better
remosaic processing and dynamic range.
These cutting-edge sensors are expected to debut in flagship
phones from brands such as Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Honor.
Samsung, however, appears to be taking a more conservative
approach. According to tipster PhoneArt (@UniverseIce), the company has
cancelled plans to move the Galaxy S27 Ultra to a larger 1/1.1-inch
200MP sensor due to cost and profit concerns. As a result, Samsung may continue
using a 1/1.3-inch class 200MP sensor—similar to the current HP2—across
several upcoming Ultra models.
For the Galaxy S26 Ultra, leaks point to a quad-camera
setup likely to include:
- 200MP
main camera
- 50MP
ultrawide lens
- 12MP
telephoto shooter with 3× optical zoom
50MP periscope lens with 5× optical zoom

Design Tweaks: Darker Frame for the Black Variant
A separate leak suggests Samsung may update the look of the
S26 Ultra’s black version by giving it a darker, more pronounced frame.
While the display bezels themselves may not change, the deeper frame shade
could make the borders appear slightly thicker to the eye.
Display and Software Enhancements
Beyond the design, Samsung may introduce several
user-focused upgrades.
One standout rumour is an AI-powered privacy mode that detects when
someone is peeking at your screen from behind and instantly blurs or hides
sensitive information while keeping it visible for the main user.
The display is expected to maintain 2,600 nits peak brightness, similar to the S25 Ultra, even as Samsung adopts its newer M14 OLED material, promising better power efficiency and durability.
