OxygenOS 16 Rolls Out to OnePlus 12R With New AI Tools & Fresh UI

OnePlus has officially begun pushing its Android 16–based OxygenOS 16 update to the OnePlus 12R as part of its global release plan. The device is among the first models scheduled to receive the new software this November, with older phones set to follow through December and early 2026. The update introduces OnePlus’ refreshed design language, smoother animations, stronger performance tuning and a suite of new AI-powered tools. Indian users are the first to get access before the rollout expands internationally.

OxygenOS 16 Reaches OnePlus 12R Users

A post on the company’s community forum confirms that the OnePlus 12R has started receiving OxygenOS 16, beginning in India and gradually heading to global regions. This matches the rollout timeline reported earlier, placing the 12R in the earliest wave of supported devices for the update.

Powered by Android 16, the new version brings a redesigned interface featuring more fluid transitions, updated icons and a more polished system layout. OnePlus has also bundled several AI-driven utilities under its “Plus Mind” feature set, adding smarter workflows and enhanced personalisation to the device.

Refreshed Interface and Smoother Experience

OxygenOS 16 introduces OnePlus’ Liquid Glass aesthetic, offering a cleaner and more cohesive visual style across system menus and stock apps. Navigation feels more natural thanks to upgraded animations and improved haptic response.

Multitasking also sees a noticeable improvement. The Smart Sidebar has been upgraded for quicker app access, while floating windows and split-screen modes now resize and switch more gracefully—useful for multitasking, productivity tasks or quick messaging.

Performance, Privacy and Camera Enhancements

Alongside design changes, the update brings deeper system-level optimisations:

  • Better RAM handling
  • Improved background process control
  • More stable performance during heavy workloads

Privacy tools get an upgrade too, with Android 16’s enhanced permission controls and clearer access indicators for apps and location services.

The camera interface receives refinements as well, including smoother mode changes and improvements to processing pipelines. While no device-specific camera features have been added, OnePlus typically includes tuning upgrades with each major OS release.
