iOS 27 to Bring Major AI Upgrades & UI Refresh in 2026 — Here’s What to Expect
Apple may be preparing one of its biggest mobile software
overhauls yet. With iOS 26 introducing a redesigned interface and Apple’s new
Liquid Glass aesthetic earlier this year at WWDC 2025, attention is
already shifting toward the next chapter — iOS 27.
A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman hints that Apple is gearing up to
roll out powerful AI additions, deeper app integrations, and widespread
improvements to overall system stability.
iOS 27 to Prioritise AI and Performance Refinements
According to the report, Apple is sharpening its focus on
two pillars for iOS 27:
- Apple
Intelligence advancements
- System-wide
quality and stability fixes
Following user complaints around iOS 26 — including
overheating, battery drain, UI errors, keyboard malfunctions, app crashes and
network drops — Apple’s engineering teams are said to be systematically
reviewing the OS to cut unnecessary processes, iron out long-standing bugs, and
improve real-world performance.
These changes are also rumoured to support Apple’s
long-anticipated foldable iPhone, expected to debut around the same
time.
New AI Experiences Across More Apps
AI is expected to play a central role in the iOS 27 update.
Apple is reportedly integrating advanced models into more native apps,
expanding beyond the Apple Intelligence features introduced earlier.
One highlight is a new health-focused AI model, which
could become part of the company’s Health+ subscription. This tool is
designed to analyze wellness data and offer personalised insights.
Another major upgrade arriving sooner — likely with iOS
26.4 — is the rollout of Apple’s enhanced AI-powered Siri, which has
been rebuilt with more contextual understanding and richer responses.
Gurman also reports that Apple has been developing an
internal text-based AI chatbot, code-named Veritas, which serves
as a testing platform for the reworked Siri. The app, however, is not expected
to launch publicly.
Release Timeline and WWDC 2026 Debut
Apple is expected to formally preview iOS 27 during WWDC
2026, scheduled for June next year. The first developer beta may be
released as early as July 2026, giving developers several months to test
the update.
The final release is anticipated for September 2026,
coinciding with the launches of the rumoured iPhone Fold and the iPhone
18 Pro lineup.
