Cyberpunk 2077 Hits 35M Sales as CDPR Shares New Cyberpunk 2 Update
CD Projekt Red has shared a major milestone for its flagship
RPG, announcing that Cyberpunk 2077 has officially crossed 35 million copies
sold worldwide. The update came during the studio’s latest financial
briefing, where the publisher highlighted stronger-than-expected performance
for both the base game and its Phantom Liberty expansion throughout the third
quarter of 2025.
Cyberpunk 2077 Hits Major Sales Record
According to the company’s financial results, CD Projekt
reported PLN 349 million (approximately $85.6 million) in revenue
for Q3 2025 — marking a 53% jump compared to the same quarter last year.
The growth, the studio explained, came largely from renewed interest in Cyberpunk
2077 across multiple platforms.
A number of recent developments helped fuel this momentum:
- The
game’s addition to the PS Plus Game Catalog in July 2025
- The
expanded launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Apple Mac devices
- A
surge in sales for the Phantom Liberty expansion
“We’re thrilled to see Cyberpunk continue to thrive even
years after release,” said joint CEO MichaÅ‚ Nowakowski. “Crossing 35
million copies proves the strength of the franchise and gives us confidence as
we build its future.”
Back in May, CD Projekt confirmed that Phantom Liberty
alone had exceeded 10 million sales. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 launch brought
unexpected success: according to NielsenIQ, Cyberpunk 2077 became the top-selling
third-party title on the console during launch week, outperforming The
Witcher 3’s debut on the original Switch.
Despite its notoriously troubled 2020 launch, Cyberpunk 2077
has evolved significantly through massive overhauls, technical fixes, and
system reworks — all contributing to its ongoing revival.

Fresh Insights Into Cyberpunk 2 Development
Alongside the sales update, CD Projekt also offered new
information about the development of Cyberpunk 2, currently in its early
stages.
The sequel — which is being developed alongside The
Witcher 4 — remains in pre-production, with more teams gradually
ramping up work. Nowakowski revealed that the studio’s Boston office has over
80 developers actively working on the project.
“We expect the Cyberpunk team in Boston to grow steadily and
roughly double over the next two years,” he noted.
However, he emphasized that it’s still too early to discuss
the next phase of development.
“When the time is right, we’ll share a proper update,” he added, underscoring
that no production timeline has been announced yet.
A Franchise Rebuilt and Rising Again
Cyberpunk 2077’s journey from a troubled launch to a celebrated comeback remains one of gaming’s most notable turnarounds. With sales rising, the fan base expanding, and work on Cyberpunk 2 moving forward, CD Projekt Red appears ready to push the universe even further in the years ahead.
