Samsung Partners With AU Small Finance Bank to Bring Card-Free Tap & Pay Payments to India

A New Step Toward Card-Free Payments in India

Samsung has expanded the capabilities of its Samsung Wallet app in India by teaming up with AU Small Finance Bank. Through this collaboration, AU Visa Credit Card customers can now make contactless payments using Tap & Pay—right from their Galaxy smartphones. The feature aims to reduce dependency on physical cards while adding more convenience and security for users across the country.

How Tap & Pay Works for AU Visa Cardholders

With this new integration, AU Visa Credit Card details can be securely added to Samsung Wallet, enabling customers to complete purchases using NFC-enabled Galaxy devices. Instead of swiping or inserting their card, users simply tap their phone on an NFC-supported POS terminal at a retail outlet.

This not only removes the need to carry the physical card but also lowers the risk of card misplacement or theft. The payment process remains encrypted and protected within Samsung’s secured platform.

Samsung Wallet Expands Its India-Focused Features

The update arrives as Samsung continues to tailor the Wallet app for Indian users. Recently, the company introduced:

  • UPI account setup during initial phone configuration, letting users start making payments immediately after setting up their Galaxy devices.
  • Facial and fingerprint biometric authentication for UPI transactions, eliminating the need to manually enter a PIN.
  • Support for Tap & Pay using Forex cards issued via WSFx Global Pay Limited.

Samsung has also revealed plans to add direct online payment support for debit and credit cards, further broadening its digital payment ecosystem in India.

Digital Car Key: Another Upcoming Feature

In October, Samsung announced a partnership with Mahindra to bring Digital Car Key functionality to Samsung Wallet. This feature, expected to roll out soon, will work with select Mahindra Electric Origin SUVs, such as the BE 6 and XEV 9e.
Using NFC technology, owners will be able to lock, unlock, and even start their vehicles—all through their Galaxy smartphones, similar to how Tap & Pay transactions work.
